Iyonka Strawn-Valcy
Iyonka Strawn-Valcy has a combined 20+ years of experience in leadership roles in education and international higher education leadership to include education abroad, international student and scholar services, and international partnerships.
Currently, she provides leadership and strategic operational guidance to Georgia Institute of Technology’s international enterprise, specifically GT’s international off-campus instructional site locations in her leadership role with Georgia Tech-Europe in Metz, France. Strawn-Valcy is a doctoral candidate in the University of North Georgia’s Higher Education Leadership and Practice E.D. program where was awarded the Student of the Year for 2023-2024. She holds a master’s degree in psychology, a Certificate in Student Affairs Law and Policy from NASPA, and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Agnes Scott College. Strawn-Valcy’s research interests include higher education internationalization leadership and strategy and globalization and internationalization.
Strawn-Valcy was a member of the 5th Leading Women@Tech Cohort at Georgia Tech in 2020 and has been the recipient of various recent recognition and honors, including:
